Men's Basketball Cruises into Shootout Finals

Box Score

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (Nov. 26, AP) — Forward Jason Collier scored 22 points to lead Georgia Tech to an 82-65 victory over Washington Friday to advance to the title game of the Great Alaska Shootout.

Collier, a 7-foot senior, had the advantage of height, speed and agility in pushing past Washington (2-1). He had 10 rebounds and one assist, seldom letting up during 34 minutes of playing time for the Yellow Jackets.

Six-foot-11 center Alvin Jones contributed 14 points and eight rebounds for Georgia Tech (3-0).

Guard Michael Johnson was the top scorer for Washington with 22 points while Deon Luton added 17.

The Huskies averaged just 35 percent shooting in the first half, despite managing to sink an impressive 57 percent of their 3-pointers. But they went cold midway through the half when Tech went on a 22-5 run on strong inside play by Collier, Jones and John Babul.
