Marcelle Paces Tech on Day Two of Penn Relay Carnival

PHILADELPHIA – Steve Marcelle placed third in the men’s shot put with an NCAA Regional qualifying mark of 59 feet, 10 ½ inches to lead Georgia Tech on day two of the Penn Relays on Friday.

Marcelle, a redshirt freshman from Green Bay, Wis., also placed ninth in the discus with a mark of 155 feet, 9 inches. In the men’s high jump, Juan Cave finished in second place with a mark of 6 feet, 8 ¼ inches.

Shantia Moss placed first in her heat and third overall in the women’s 100-meter hurdles with an NCAA Regional qualifying time of 13.13. Fatmata Fofanah finished the day in ninth place in the 100m hurdles with an NCAA Regional qualifying time of 13.48. The junior placed fourth in her heat. The hurdles final will begin at 3:50 p.m. on Saturday.

The women’s 4×100-meter relay team finished the Championship of America final in seventh place with an NCAA Regional qualifying time of 45.21. The women’s Sprint Medley Championship of America team crossed the line in 13th place overall with a time of 4:00.86.
