Li Named to 40 Under 40 Class

THE FLATS – Former Georgia Tech swimmer Jing Li was named to the prestigious 2023 Georgia Tech Alumni Association’s 40 Under 40 Class as the honorees were announced on Thursday. Also representing the Yellow Jackets were Joe Gammie and Laura Powell. The annual list recognizes Georgia Tech’s most remarkable innovators, trend setters and people to watch.

A four-year letterwinner on the swimming and diving team (2007-10), Li graduated from Georgia Tech in 2010 with a degree in industrial engineering. While a Yellow Jacket, Li ranked among the best in the record books, once appearing in the top 10 in the 1,000 free and 1,650 free events. Since graduation, Li has dedicated her career to laying the foundation for the next generation of leaders through education, technology, sustainability and diversity. She founded the nonprofit Project Ollie to provide Ukrainian educators and learners with humanitarian support and tools to thrive. Once a member of the Peace Korps Ukraine, Li also helped reduce food waste through IoT sensors. She currently serves as a product management senior principal at Accenture.

A former football video manager, Gammie graduated from Georgia Tech in 2013 with a degree in mechanical engineering. Currently the executive vice president and cofounder of the Utility Innovation Group, he has spent his career leading innovation, revolutionizing the electric grid. In 2021, he cofounded Utility Innovation Group with a mission of shaping the future of electric grid infrastructure across the globe.

Listing her favorite Tech memory as riding the Ramblin’ Wreck onto the football field as a cheerleader, Powell earned a degree in public policy in 2013. She earned her law degree from Vanderbilt University and currently serves as a senior associate at WilmerHale. Powell assists clients in all phases of legal cases from pre-litigation investigation through trial and appeals with an emphasis on appellate patent litigation.
