Lawal, Favors Named in Sporting News All-ACC Awards

Greensboro, N.C. – Georgia Tech’s Gani Lawal was named second-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference, and Derrick Favors was named Freshman of the Year in awards announced by the Sporting News Thursday.

Earlier in the week, Lawal was named third-team All-ACC and Favors Rookie of the Year by the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association, which selects the official all-conference teams for the ACC.

Lawal, a junior from Norcross, Ga., is Tech’s leading scorer (13.6 points per game) and rebounder (8.8 per game) for all games, while Favors leads his team in those catagories (11.8 ppg, 8.7 rpg) for conference games only.
