Jumps Earn Top Finishes at Georgia Tech Invitational

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech track & field completed the Georgia Tech invitational on Saturday. Jumps shined on the final day, winning the men’s triple jump and women’s high jump.

John Watkins took first with a personal best of 15.56m (51’0.75”) in the men’s triple jump and Shanty Papakosta cleared 1.74m (5’8.5”) in the women’s high jump.

Tech had many top finishes on the day. The women’s 4×100 team of Sheleah Harris, Taylor Grimes, Anna Witherspoon and Chloe Davis finished second with a time of 45.42, a season best. On the men’s side, Jamie Miller set a new personal best in the men’s 400m, clocking in at 47.42 good for third.

There were four more top 10 finishes in individual races. They came from Harris (24.28, seventh, 200m), Alex Thomas (1:51.77, seventh, 800m), Riley Pelakowski (2:10.87, 9th, 800m) and Lydia Troupe (1:04.03, 10th, 400m hurdles).

The White and Gold are back in action next weekend when they are split at the Penn Relays and Torrin Lawrence Memorial (Athens, Ga.).
