LEXINGTON, Ky. – Alphonso Jordan won the men’s triple jump to lead the Georgia Tech track & field teams on the first day of the Kentucky Invitational at the Nutter Fieldhouse.
Jordan finished with a mark of 51 feet, ¼ inches earning his first triple jump victory of the season. Senior James Lemons II placed second in the triple jump event with a mark of 50 feet, 9 ½ inches.
The women’s squad was led by Alana Clooten, who tossed the weight throw 59 feet, 2 ¼ inches as she earned a third-place finish in the Jackets second meet of the indoor season. Kimery Hern placed seventh in the weight throw with a mark of 54 feet, 9 ½ inches.
Freshman Joanna Wright finished the pole vault in third place. Wright cleared her first five heights but was unable to get a better mark that 11 feet, 11 ¾ inches.
The meet continues tomorrow morning at 10:30 a.m. with the women’s high jump, women’s long jump, women’s shot put and the men’s pole vault. Results will be posted at the conclusion of the day on www.RamblinWreck.com, Tech’s official athletic website.
