Jackets Travel to Lexington for Kentucky Volleyball Classic

ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech volleyball team (3-1) will put its three-match winning streak on the line when they travel to Lexington, Ky., for the Kentucky Classic this Friday and Saturday, Sept. 8-9. The Yellow Jackets will face Villanova (1-5) at 11 a.m. and Toledo (2-5) at 5 p.m. on Friday. The Jackets will face host Kentucky (3-1) on Saturday at 4 p.m. ET.

Tech won its first home tournament, Regency Suites Midtown Invitational, with a five-game win over Northern Iowa, 24-30, 30-27, 30-22, 17-30, 15-8, on Saturday. After dropping an opening match to Mississippi State, the Jackets went on to defeat archrival Georgia 3-2 and Georgia State 3-0.

The Rambling Wreck currently stand 16th in the nation in hitting percentage at .292. Sophomore setter Allie Niekamp was named Atlantic Coast Conference Performer of the Week after being named Regency Suites Midtown Invitational MVP and recording just Tech’s third ever triple-double in the opening match of the season against MSU (10 kills, 44 assists, 10 digs).
