Jackets Sweep Final Day in Starkville

Β STARKVILLE, Miss. – Georgia Tech softball (8-6) came away with two wins on the final day of the Snowman Tournament on Monday, topping Southeastern Louisiana (7-8) 4-2 before handing host Mississippi State (10-4) its second loss at home, a 6-4 victory over the Bulldogs.

Georgia Tech 4, Southeastern La. 2

With the 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first, juniorΒ Drew Puckett sends a sacrifice fly to deep center, scoring seniorΒ Katie KrzusΒ from third to bring the score to 2-0.

Leading 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth, sophomoreΒ Skye Webb sent an RBI single through the right side, scoring Krzus and juniorΒ Crosby Huckabay came home on an error to push Tech’s lead to 4-1.

Georgia Tech 6, Mississippi State 4

Tied 0-0 in the top of the second, sophomore Cameron Stanford smacked a two-RBI single to left center, plating Webb and Puckett to put Tech up 2-0.

 

With the score at 2-0 in the top of the fourth, Stanford sends a dinger over the fence to move the score to 3-0. The home run was the first Mississippi State has given up at home this season.

SophomoreΒ Tricia Awald got in on the action with an RBI double in the top of the fourth, plating seniorΒ Kaylee Ellebracht to make it 4-0.

Tech returns to The Flats for a midweek matchup with Kennesaw State on Wednesday, Feb. 27 to kick off an eight-game homestand. First pitch is set for 5 p.m. on ACC Network Extra.
