Jackets Fall to No. 7 Seminoles

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. โ€“ย Georgia Tech softball (17-18, 2-10 ACC) lost its series finale to No. 7 Florida State (29-7, 8-1 ACC), 9-1 (6), on Sunday at JoAnne Graf Field.

The Seminoles drew first blood in the bottom of the first with a two-RBI double, but the Yellow Jackets responded in the top of the second. The sophomore outfielder duo of Auburn Dupree and Ella Edgmon put the White and Gold on the board as the former was driven home on the latterโ€™s sac fly to cut the lead to 2-1.

Florida State rolled on in the bottom of the second, belting a two-run blast and adding another run on a Tech miscue to push further in front, 5-1. The Noles tacked on three more runs with a solo shot and a two-run bomb in the bottom of the fourth, increasing the lead to 8-1. Florida State added its final run in the sixth as a liner made its way to the wall, giving way to a 9-1 victory.

Senior hurler Blake Neleman (5-8) got the start, receiving the loss after 2.1 innings of work. Sophomore slinger Sophia Voyles (1.1 IP) and senior right hander Chandler Dennis (1.1 IP) also toed the rubber.
