Winston-Salem, N.C. – Dusan Miljevic earned a three-set win at No. 2 singles, and Georgia Tech got victories from a pair of freshmen at the bottom of its singles lineup, but the Yellow Jackets fell short in their final regular-season Atlantic Coast Conference match Sunday afternoon with a 4-3 loss at Wake Forest.

Tech fell to 4-7 in conference play and 9-12 overall headed into this week’s ACC Championship in Cary, N.C., where the 8th seeded Yellow Jackets will face No. 9 Maryland (7-14, 4-7) at 9 a.m. Thursday. The Demon Deacons improved to 12-14 overall and 3-8 in ACC matches.
Wake Forest rallied to win the doubles point after Miljevic and freshman Eduardo Segura won at No. 3, capturing tiebreakers to take victories at No. 1 and 2.
But Tech took the lead 2-1 when freshmen Eduardo Segura and Vikram Hundal won at the bottom of the singles lineup. Segura took a 6-3, 6-3 win over Sam Wells at No. 6, and Hundal defeated Alex Tsai, 6-1, 2-6, 7-6 at No. 5.
The Jackets played without All-American Kevin King for the second time in three matches, forcing the rest of the Tech players to move up a spot in the lineup. Juan Spir, ranked 48th in the nation and replacing King at No. 1, dropped a 7-5, 7-5 decision to David Hopkins which tied the match at 2-2.
Wake moved ahead when Amogh Prabhakar got past freshman Sebastian Lopez, 6-0, 3-6, 6-1, at No. 4, then clinched the match at No. 3 with Adam Lee’s 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 win over Juan Melian.
Miljevic rallied from a first-set loss in a tiebreaker at the No. 2 position to dispatch Danny Krayman, 6-7, 6-2, 7-5.
