Jackets Continue Success at Miami Fall Invite

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Georgia Tech women’s tennis capped day two of the Miami Fall Invite with seven victories as the Yellow Jackets played another round of singles and doubles matches.

After facing a rain delay, which pushed play back to the afternoon, four Yellow Jackets took the courts for singles action. Kate Sharabura picked up her second singles win of the weekend, topping Britany Lau of Northwestern in straight-sets, 6-0, 6-1. She was joined in the win column by freshmen Meera Jesudason and Given Roach. Jesudason faced Northwestern’s Elisa Van Meeteren and gutted out a 6-4, 6-3 decision for her first singles win of the weekend, while Roach battled Sydney Pratt. After pulling out the first set, 7-6 (2), Roach dropped the second set, 6-3, but cruised in the final, 6-0, to secure the three-set victory.

Tech took a short break from singles to play three doubles matches. Kylie Bilchev saw her first action of the day, partnering with Roach to edge Barry’s Nathalia Wolf Gasparin and Alina Michalitsch, 6-3. The Jackets also took on Miami and Northwestern in doubles, dropping hard-fought decisions.

The day concluded with three remaining singles wins from Bilchev, Carol Lee and Mahak Jain, who all remained undefeated in singles action this weekend. Bilchev rebounded from dropping the first set to Alina Michacitsch (Barry) to pocket the final two sets and the win, 3-6, 7-5, 6-4. Lee sought a win against Dinara Alloiarova (Barry), pulling out a 7-6 (4), 6-2 victory, while Jain downed Clara Versier (Barry), 6-0, 6-4.

Action concludes on Sunday with the final rounds of singles and doubles at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
