Jackets Advance to Finals at ITA Regionals

Gainesville, Fla. – Georgia Tech men’s tennis players will compete in the finals of main draw singles, main draw doubles and consolation singles at the ITA Southeast Regionals.

No. 31 Andres Martin advanced to the finals of main draw singles with a decisive 6-1, 6-2, win over Dominik Barton of North Florida. Martin is set to face Trey Hilderbrand of Central Florida on Monday in the main draw finals.

Martin will also compete in the doubles finals with his partner Marcus McDaniel. The pairing makes up the No. 8 doubles team in the nation and will face No. 11 Hannestad/Aubone of Miami in the main draw doubles finals after beating Andrade/Siimar of Florida, 6-1, 3-6, [10-4].

Martin is the first player to compete in both the main draw singles and doubles finals at the ITA Southeast Regional since 2015.

With these results Martin and McDaniel will both be competing in ITA Fall Nationals in San Diego, Calif. from Nov. 5-7. Martin has qualified in singles and McDaniel/Martin have qualified in doubles.

Chen Dong advanced to the finals of the singles consolation bracket after beating Joshua Goodger of Florida, 2-6, 6-4, [10-5]. Dong will not have a finals match on Monday. His prospective opponent has withdrawn from the tournament. Dong has been declared the winner of the singles consolation bracket.

Monday’s action will start with the main draw singles match of Martin against Hilderbrand. Following this match there will be a break between the singles and doubles finals to allow Martin to prepare for the doubles match with McDaniel against Andrade/Siimar.
