Jackets Advance in Doubles at Invitational; Fall in Singles Competition

Atlanta – The Jackets advanced two teams to the semifinals in both flights of the doubles competition on Saturday during action at the Georgia Tech Invitational. Jordan Delass won his second-round singles match before falling in the quarterfinals.

Zachary Rath and Scott Blackmon received a bye in the first round of the Flight “A” doubles draw and defeated Andy Mack and Evan Dufaux of Vanderbilt 3-3, ret. in the quarters to advance to the semifinals. In the “B” Flight, the Tech duo of Jordan Delass and George Gvelesiani also advanced to the semis by way of a bye in the first round and an 8-5 victory over Andy Juc and Chris Gilli of Furman. Both teams will resume action on Sunday afternoon.

In the singles draws, fifth-seeded Delass posted a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Middle Tennessee State’s Greg Pollack before falling in the quarters to fourth-seeded Martin Stiegwardt of Georgia State. Rath, Blackmon, and Gvelesiani all fell in the second round of competition.

Semifinals of the singles’ “A” and “B” Flights will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday morning with the consolation and doubles’ matches to follow. Results will be posted following the completion of each match on www.ramblinwreck.com.
