Box Score (.pdf)

THE FLATS – LHP Brant Hurter dealt eight strikeouts and allowed just one run to drive Georgia Tech past Clemson 6-1 on Friday night at Mac Nease Baseball Park at Russ Chandler Stadium.

Hurter (4-4) went seven full innings in just 96 pitches, walking none to allow the Yellow Jackets (22-18, 16-12 ACC) to get the bats going. Tech manufactured its first run on a sac bunt and groundout RBI before a Jake DeLeo single gave Tech the lead. The Jackets then exploded for four in the fourth thanks to a Luke Waddell triple, Andrew Jenkins two-RBI single and Tres Gonzalez bunt RBI.

Waddell led the way with a 2-for-4, two-RBI day, while Jenkins went 2-for-5 with a double and two RBI as well.

LHP Sam Crawford slammed the door with 2.0 shutout innings of one-hit work, striking out just three.

The Tigers (22-19, 15-13 ACC) were led by two multi-hit performances with Adam Hackenberg leading with 2-for-4 with a double. RHP Mack Anglin (2-3) allowed six runs (three earned) on four hits in four innings to receive the loss.

Georgia Tech looks to take the series on Saturday against Clemson. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. and will be broadcast on the ACC’s Regional Sports Networks and WREK 91.1 FM. Single-game tickets for Saturday’s matchup has sold out.
