Hourigan Finishes Day One at ITA All-Americans

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – Sophomore Paige Hourigan of the Georgia Tech women’s tennis team went 1-1 at the Riviera/ITA Women’s All-American Championships in singles competition on Tuesday afternoon.

Hourigan, the No. 35-ranked singles player, was eliminated from the main draw of qualifying singles after losing in straight-sets to No. 48 Breaunna Addison. Addison defeated Hourigan, 6-3, 6-2. Hourigan, who was a 9-16 seed in the draw, then moved to the back draw.

During the back draw, Hourigan faced Utah’s Sarah Richter and won, 6-1, 6-4. Hourigan will face the winner of Daneika Borthwick of Florida State and Gabby Smith of USC tomorrow at 4:30 p.m. ET.

On Thursday, Hourigan and senior Kendal Woodard will compete in the main doubles draw. The duo has been tabbed the number seven doubles team in the preseason rankings.
