June 3, 2013

THE FLATS – Danielle Hamilton-Carter, who graduated from Georgia Tech in May, has been selected to the Swedish national team to compete in EuroBasket 2013, to be held June 15-30 in France.

Hamilton-Carter is one of 12 on this year’s roster after she helped Sweden win group D in last year’s qualifying tournament in Lithuania. This year will be the first year Sweden has played in the European championship since 1984.

Sweden will be playing in group B with games in Vannes, France. The Swedes will open their tournament against Italy June 15. Also in the group are Spain and Russia.

Hamilton-Carter will also play for Sweden in the World University Games July 8-15 in Russia. It will be the second World University Games appearance for the Stockholm native after she played on the 2011 team in Shenzen, China.

Hamilton-Carter played in 30 games, starting 17, last season for the Yellow Jackets. For the year, she shot 50 percent from the field and averaged 5.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per game. Her 5.0 rebounds ranked third on the Tech roster.
