GT T&F Signs State's Top Returning Sprinter

THE FLATS – The Georgia Tech men’s track & field squad has signed Tyson Spears, a sprinter and long jumper from Roswell High School in Roswell, Ga.

Spears, who plans to major in mechanical engineering, finished 4th at the 2015 USATF Junior Olympics in the 100m. He also competed in the 2015 Georgia Olympics, where he finished 2nd in the long jump and 3rd in the 100m and 200m.

“Tyson’s signing was a great day for Georgia Tech track & field,” head coach Grover Hinsdale said. “He is an exceptional young man, a great student and a very talented athlete. I believe he is going to develop into an outstanding sprinter and long jumper at this level. We are all delighted to have him on board.”

Tyson is the son of Marvin and Nicole Spears, and is coached by Andy Schultz.

100m – 10.42
200m – 21.40
