THE FLATS – Georgia Tech athletics has received approval from the University System of Georgia Board of Regents to begin construction on an HD production facility that will greatly enhance Tech’s video production capabilities.
The $10 million, 6,350-foot facility will be located on Georgia Tech’s campus at the corner of Fowler Street and 8th Street, adjacent to McCamish Pavilion. It will be housed in currently vacant buildings that will be retrofit to meet production demands associated with the ACC Network, which is set to launch in 2019.
The facility will include three control rooms and a production studio, along with support spaces and staff offices. It will be connected to all of the Yellow Jackets’ athletics venues via a new fiber optic infrastructure that will allow the facility to serve as a central production hub for not only ACC Network broadcasts but also feeds for Georgia Tech’s in-venue videoboards.
“We’re excited and grateful to receive approval to move along with the construction of our brand-new, state-of-the-art video production facility,” Georgia Tech director of athletics Todd Stansbury said. “This facility will not only allow us to meet production demands for the ACC Network but will also give us greater bandwidth to tell the story of Georgia Tech athletics to a wide range of audiences — including fans and recruits.”
The facility will be completed in advance of the ACC Network’s August 2019 launch date.
