GREENSBORO, NC – After helping Georgia Tech claim the Regency Suites Midtown Invitational tournament title with a 3-0 record over the weekend, outside hitter Talisa Kellogg has been named Atlantic Coast Conference Volleyball Player of the Week. Kellogg, who is the second Yellow Jacket to garner the league’s weekly honor this season, was also voted the tournament’s most valuable player.
“Talisa played near flawless this past weekend and is really finding her groove as our leading outside attacker,” said Georgia Tech head coach Bond Shymansky. “We are really looking for another repeat performance in the future and are counting on her to be a strong leader for us as we enter ACC play.”
A sophomore from Westerville, Ohio, Kellogg averaged 4.29 kills per game on the weekend, while compiling an impressive .500 hitting percentage. In the 3-0 sweep over Stetson last Saturday, she became just the third player in school history to hit 1.000 in a match as she posted 10 kills on 10 attempts with no errors.
Currently the team leader in kills, Kellogg has collected 114 on the year averaging 3.35 per game.
Georgia Tech opens conference action this weekend with a pair of matches on the road. The Yellow Jackets face Wake Forest on Friday, September 22, at 7 p.m. and then head to Duke for a 7 p.m. contest on the following day.
