Georgia Tech's George Gvelesiani Lone Winner at Mexico Invitational

Georgia Tech men’s tennis player George Gvelesiani posted a 6-3, 6-4 win over California’s Dean Wallace to lead the Yellow Jackets on their first day of competition at the Mexico Invitational being held in Manzanillo, Mexico.

Five other Yellow Jackets competed, including Marko Rajevac, who dropped a 6-4, 5-7, 7-6 (8) match to No. 59 Ruben Gonzalez of Illinois, Jordan Delass who fell in three sets (4-6, 6-4, 6-1) to No. 55 Tyler Browne of Cal-Berkley and David North who lost to #99 Ryan Rowe of Illinois, 6-2, 6-4.

In Tech’s final two matches, Scott Blackmon was defeated by the Fighting Illini’s Pramod Dabir, 7-5, 6-3 while Zachary Rath dropped a match to Eoin Heavey of California, 6-3, 6-1.

The Yellow Jackets will continue competition at the Mexico Invitational through Sunday.
