July 23, 2013

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech head women’s basketball coach MaChelle Joseph announced the promotion of Catherine Greene to director of basketball operations and the addition of Ricky Kersey as assistant director of basketball operations.

Greene will work closely with Joseph in overseeing all aspects of the program’s day-to-day operations. Kersey will assist with the Yellow Jackets travel and practice schedules, promotional and fundraising efforts and assist with recruiting operations.

Greene was hired in November 2012, as associate director of operations after spending the previous two-plus years in a full-time role in event operations at North Carolina. She earned her bachelor’s degree in 2008 and a master’s degree in 2010, both from UNC. As an undergrad, Greene was a manager for the Tar Heels’ women’s basketball team as UNC won four ACC championships and advanced to the 2006 and 2007 Final Fours.

The Gastonia, N.C., native was a graduate assistant for the North Carolina women’s basketball team for one season before serving as the graduate intern for the Dean E. Smith Center.

Kersey joins Georgia Tech after spending the 2012-13 season as an intern with the Atlanta Tipoff Club, where he worked closely with the promotion of the Naismith Award, presented annually to the top men’s and women’s collegiate basketball players.

The Columbia, Md., native earned his degree in business administration from the Scheller College of Business at Georgia Tech in December, 2012. During his time on the Flats, Kersey was a manager for the women’s basketball team for three years.
