THE FLATS – Paul Haley II finished off a solid fall season in his second try on the PGA Tour … Will Dickson ties for 19th on the GPro Tour … Andy Ogletree talks about his golf revival after brief LIV Golf experience … More details below in this week’s Georgia Tech #ProJackets Report.

HALEY II FINISHES STRONG FALL SEASON ON PGA TOUR

Five Yellow Jackets took the field for the RSM Classic last weekend in St. Simons Island, Ga., the final fall event on the PGA Tour’s schedule, and Paul Haley II was the only one to survive to the weekend, posting a tie for 29th place with an 11-under-par score of 271. Haley shot all four rounds in the 60s on the two golf courses – Plantation and Seaside.

Haley accumulated $229,471 in earnings in six events, more than three times his take in his first PGA Tour season in 2013., and sits No. 91 in the FedEx Cup points standings. He made four cuts, and his best finish was a tie for 12th in the season-opening Fortinet Championship. His tie for 29th last weekend was his second-best showing.

Three other Jackets – Stewart Cink, Chesson Hadley and Matt Kuchar – missed the cut on the number at 3-under-par 139.

At the end of the fall season, Kuchar (No. 81), Haley (91) and Hadley (117) are all inside the top 125 of the FedEx Cup points standings.

Will Dickson turned in a tie for 19th place at the Harbor Classic on the GPro Tour last week, posting a 1-under-par 215 at the Club at Savannah Harbor. The champion of the tour’s 2022 season sits No. 15 in earnings on the tour during the fall season and 17th in points.

KUCHAR, ENGLISH RETURN TO QBE SHOOTOUT

Steve Stricker, Lexi Thompson, and three-time champions Matt Kuchar and Harris English are among the fan favorites returning to Tiburon for the QBE Shootout, set for Dec. 7-11.

In addition to Kuchar and English who teamed to win the QBE in 2020, as well as 2013, 2014, and 2016, the field includes three other former Shootout champions in Stricker (2009, 2017), Day (2014) and Harman (2018).

OGLETREE ON HIS GOLF REVIVAL AFTER LIV AXE

In June, Andy Ogletree played in the opening LIV Golf tournament at London’s Centurion Club. However, he finished last in the individual event, ensuring it would be his one and only appearance in the opening season of the venture.

Despite the American’s association with the Greg Norman-fronted organisation only being fleeting, he still received a suspension from the PGA Tour, leaving him with limited options as to where he could ply his trade.

Speaking to Sports Illustrated(opens in new tab), Ogletree confirmed that it was his poor performance that cost him further appearances – despite thinking he would have more opportunities. He said: “I kind of got the boot because I played bad. I wanted to play all of them. I was understanding that I was to play more than once. But after the great turnout they had, everyone seemed to want to play. I just didn’t take advantage of that opportunity.”

It was a costly failure because Ogletree was not only suspended by the PGA Tour but also barred from the Korn Ferry Tour. Ogletree explained that left him with nowhere to play. He said: “There wasn’t even a Monday qualifier. I had no place to play. I wasn’t in the event and couldn’t get in it. And I found out I was suspended after I teed off [at the LIV event]. I couldn’t believe how it blew up. I was on the same list as the Dustin Johnsons and Phil Mickelsons. And everyone thought I was banned for life.”
