THE FLATS – Georgia Tech athletics kicked off the 404 Academy last week, a series of seminars aimed to help Tech student-athletes take full advantage of name, image and likeness opportunities beginning on July 1.
The 404 Academy features five weekly sessions throughout the month of June, with a goal of educating, elevating and empowering student-athletes as they navigate the NIL landscape and the opportunities that are available to them. Themes for the weekly seminars are:
Week 1 – Introduction and Overview
Week 2 – Personal Branding
Week 3 – Camps, Clinics, Lessons and Autographs
Week 4 – Personal Finance
Week 5 – Entrepreneurship
The seminars will be led by experts on the various topics, including Georgia Tech faculty and alumni with expertise in the fields of branding, marketing, innovation, finance, taxation and entrepreneurship – all which align with the DNA of Georgia Tech.
“The 404 Academy is an example of Georgia Tech’s commitment to put our student-athletes in the best position to take advantage of name, image and likeness opportunities,” Georgia Tech director of athletics Todd Stansbury said. “At Georgia Tech, we’re uniquely positioned for our student-athletes to maximize NIL opportunities due to our location in the vibrant Atlanta market and the values of our Institution, which has produced some of the world’s most successful entrepreneurs. Our commitment to our student-athletes is to expand our investment in education and resources that will allow them to take full advantage of the opportunities that are available to them.”
In addition to the 404 Academy, investments that Georgia Tech athletics has made to assist student-athletes with NIL opportunities include a department-wide partnership with content platform INFLCR.
