Georgia Tech Blows Past ETSU, 87-57

ATLANTA (AP) Marcus Georges-Hunt scored 14 of his 18 points in the first half Saturday, when Georgia Tech used a big run late in the period to blow open the game on the way to a 87-57 win over East Tennessee State.

The Yellow Jackets (7-3) led just 24-19 after ETSU’s Jalen Riley made a pair of free throws with 7:35 left in the first half.

Georges-Hunt countered with a 3-pointer at the other end and Tech raced from there to a 44-23 halftime lead.

East Tennessee State (4-6) was led by A.J. Merriweather’s 18 points and seven rebounds. Riley scored 12.

Trae Golden had 13 points and five assists off the bench, and Robert Carter Jr. had 11 points and eight rebounds. Stacey Poole Jr. pitched in a career-high 11 points.

The Yellow Jackets scored the final 11 points of the first period and ETSU went scoreless over the final 4:08.
