Georgia Tech athletics recently participated in the ACC’s annual Unity Week, Oct. 24-30. During the course of the week, Tech offered several collaborative events, including:
- Family Dinner – Georgia Tech athletics student-athletes, coaches and staff gathered at McCamish Pavilion for a night of fellowship and a conversation with Tegra Myanna of the Georgia Tech LGBTQIA Resource Center;
- Leadership Lunch – legendary Georgia Tech coach, Bill Curry, held a conversation with student-athletes, coaches and staff on leadership. Coach Curry spoke about his time on The Flats, leadership traits, the role of a leader and how every person is a leader;
- Coffee With a Cop – Georgia Tech hosted a breakfast session with GTPD, student-athletes, coaches and staff, providing an opportunity to fellowship and conversation;
- Unity Walk – led by the Georgia Tech Student-Athlete Advisory Board, student-athletes, coaches, staff and GTPD gathered for a walk to Harrison Square to the Three Pioneers sculpture. At the conclusion, Georgia Tech Captain Marcus Walton presented athletic director J Batt with the Community Partnership Award for collaborations over the past year between athletics and the police department. Participants also heard from Jelani Liddell, assistant director for outreach initiatives for OMED.
