Four Yellow Jackets Earn Peach Of An Athlete Honors

THE FLATS – Four Georgia Tech student-athletes were selected to receive Peach of an Athlete honors as selected by the Atlanta Area Council, Boy Scouts of America. The official recognition is set to take place at the 30th Annual Peach of an Athlete Awards Banquet on March 25, 2014 at 7 p.m. at the Cobb Energy Centre.

Women’s basketball redshirt senior Shayla Bivins will be recognized as one of the top female athletes. Bivins is joined by junior cross country and track and field athlete Morgan Jackson (VP of SAAB), senior softball player Alysha Rudnik and senior football player Isaiah Johnson.

Bivins graduated from Georgia Tech with a degree in science, technology and culture and a minor in law with a 3.52 cumulative GPA. She is president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Board (SAAB) and is just one of two student-athletes selected to serve on the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Issues Committee.

Jackson is the vice president of the Georgia Tech SAAB. She is a biomedical engineering major and is working toward an international management certificate with a 3.43 cumulative GPA. The Kennesaw, Ga., native set three personal-bests during the 2013 track season and scored for the Jackets at the ACC Championship.

Rudnik is a three-time All-ACC Academic team honoree and a two-time first-team All-ACC selection. The Lawrenceville, Ga., native is a business administration major with a concentration in operations and supply chain management and a 3.56 cumulative GPA.

Johnson is a management major and a four-time Dean’s List honoree. Johnson, a native of Tyrone, Ga., was a 2012 preseason second-team All-ACC (Phil Steele), preseason second-team All-ACC (Athlon), preseason third-team All-ACC (Lindy’s).
