Eric Chiu Swims 100 Fly At NCAA Championship

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Senior Eric Chiu finished 27th in the 100 fly Friday as action continued in the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championship at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, Ind.

Chiu became the first Jacket to compete in an individual men’s swimming at the NCAA Championship since Gal Nevo in 2010 and just the second Tech swimmer all-time to compete in the 100 fly.

The native of Martinez, Ga., Chiu was clocked during Friday’s prelims in a time of 47.02, which was good for 27th overall. He was just 0.32 seconds shy of the top 16 and a spot in the finals.

Chiu also swam on the Yellow Jackets’ 200 medley relay Friday, with Andrew Kosic, Ryan Salmon and Nico van Duijn. The relay finished 26th overall in a time 1:28.90.

The Jackets will conclude their stay in Indianapolis Saturday with the 400 free relay.
