THE FLATS – Georgia Tech forward Lorela Cubaj was named 2022 WBCA NCAA Division I Coaches’ All-America honorable mention on Thursday, earning the recognition for the second consecutive year. The All-America teams were announced by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).
The two-time ACC Defensive Player of the Year, Cubaj averaged a double-double this season behind 11.1 rebounds and 10.0 points per game. She led the Atlantic Coast Conference all season in rebounding and ranked in the top 20 nationally. She recorded 12 double-doubles, 22 double-figure rebounding games and 18 double-figure scoring outings. Cubaj garnered all-ACC first team recognition and a spot on the ACC all-defensive team.
In addition to leading the Yellow Jackets on the boards, Cubaj led Tech in assists (136), steals (44) and blocks (41). The Terni, Italy, native will leave her mark in the Georgia Tech women’s basketball record book, having broken the program record for career rebounds back in December, finishing her collegiate campaign with 1,265 career rebounds. Cubaj also recorded another prestigious accolade, finishing her career with 1,293 career points.

Cubaj helped Georgia Tech secure its second consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance as the Yellow Jackets made their 11th overall postseason appearance in the Big Dance this season.
