Center of Attention

Nov. 12, 2003

Georgia Tech center Hugh Reilly has been selected to play in the 2004 Hula Bowl Maui, a collegiate all-star game to be played at Maui’s War Memorial Stadium on January 17, 2004.

Reilly is a 6-4, 285-pound senior from Roswell, Ga.

A preseason nominee for the Rimington Trophy as the nation’s top center, Reilly has helped pave the way for one of the ACC’s top rushers in Tech tailback P.J. Daniels.

He was named ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week after leading the Yellow Jackets to a win at Wake Forest, paving the way for a season-high 441 yards of total offense, including 175 yards by Daniels.

Reilly has played every snap in Tech’s first nine games (603 offensive plays). He has started every game the last three seasons, a total of 35 straight games, starting at right guard in 2001 before moving to center in 2002.

He is a strong candidate to earn first-team all-Atlantic Coast Conference honors this season after garnering honorable mention recognition last fall.
