THE FLATS – For the third time this season, senior Brandon Makinson has been honored as the ACC Men’s Diver of the Week. Makinson remained undefeated in 2012-13 by winning both springboard events in the Yellow Jackets’ dual meet versus Virginia Tech on Saturday.
Against a deep field of Hokie divers, Makinson posted a score of 361.60 in taking the 1-meter competition, and a score of 380.85 to claim the 3-meter win.
Makinson is the ACC’s leading diver this season in both springboard events, with a school-record 422.55 on the 3-meter board coming versus Georgia and a 375.23 on the 1-meter also versus the Bulldogs.
Last season, the native of Alberta, Canada won both diving events in a single meet four times. He’s already done it three times through three meets this year.
Tech returns to the pool November 30-Decermber 2 when the Jackets host the GT Invitational.
