#BUZZWORTHY >> Georgia Tech hits the road for the second-to-last time in ACC play this season, heading to No. 6 North Carolina for a three-game series at the Coastal Division-leading Tar Heels.
>> All three games can be heard live on WREK 91.1 FM in Atlanta with Nolan Alexander and Wade Rogers on the call. The first two games of the series are available live on ESPN3, with Sunday’s game nationally-televised on ESPNU.
>> A power surge from LF Brandon Thomas has the junior third in the ACC in batting average at .382. Against the conference, Thomas is hitting at a .391 clip, which is second-best. The Atlanta native is 35 for his last 79 (.443), had a game-winning RBI double in the eighth inning to beat Duke 1-0 and ripped a game-tying RBI double in the ninth to force extra innings versus No. 2 FSU.
>> Senior 1B Jake Davies enters the weekend on a career-best 11-game hitting streak, which includes multi-hit efforts in six of the last seven games. Davies has his average up to .353 and his 39 RBI are tied for the ACC lead.
>> Sophomore reliever Alex Cruz was responsible for both Tech wins last week, pitching 10.2 innings in three appearances and getting victories over Mercer and Wake Forest. Cruz (3-1, 1.26 ERA) has allowed just one run over his last 23.0 innings pitched.
>> Junior RHP Buck Farmer has allowed just one run in his last 23 innings, and is third in the ACC with 74 strikeouts.
