Georgia Tech looks to get back to winning ways on Sunday after dropping a heartbreaker to No. 3/2 Louisville a week ago. The Yellow Jackets led for over 33 minutes in the outing, but a late layup from the Cardinals proved to be the game-winning bucket. Playing with a short-handed roster, three Yellow Jackets finished in double-figures led by Digna Strautmane with 13 points. Lorela Cubaj added 12 points and posted 16 rebounds for her sixth double-double of the season.
Virginia comes into the contest having last played on Dec. 19 against NC State and has missed four games due to health and safety protocols. The Cavaliers are 2-3 when competing on the road this season having taken wins at Cal St. Fullerton and George Washington. Two players are averaging 13-plus points per game in Camryn Taylor (13.5) and Amandine Toi (13.3). Taylor also leads Virginia on the glass, securing 6.3 rebounds per game.
Georgia Tech and Virginia have met on the hardwood 75 times with the Cavaliers leading the all-time series, 58-17. The Yellow Jackets took the last meeting between the squads in 2019 in McCamish Pavilion by a 61-51 margin. The teams did not meet in 2020 due to Covid-19.
