THE FLATS – Georgia Tech has designated Saturday’s highly anticipated football season opener versus Northern Illinois as its annual WhiteOut game, Tech athletics announced on Monday.
Fans are encouraged to wear white for the contest, which will be played under the lights at Bobby Dodd Stadium (7:30 p.m. kickoff) and be nationally televised on ACC Network. It will be the first full-capacity athletics event on Georgia Tech’s campus in 18 months and the first full-capacity game at Bobby Dodd Stadium since 2019.
Georgia Tech’s WhiteOut tradition at Bobby Dodd Stadium began with a nationally televised primetime win over Miami (Fla.) in 2008. The Yellow Jackets have won five of their last six WhiteOut games, including the legendary “Miracle on Techwood Drive” victory over No. 9 Florida State in 2015 and a 14-10 triumph over USF in their last WhiteOut contest in 2019.
