White, Thomas Excel at NFL Combine

Georgia Tech’s Keion White and Charlie Thomas put on a show for National Football League management and coaches at the 2023 NFL Combine, which concluded this week in Indianapolis.

The NFL Combine is the preeminent showcase for the NFL Draft, where top prospects are evaluated and interviewed by head coaches, assistant coaches, general managers, scouting personnel and medical staffs from all 32 NFL teams.

White, a defensive end, officially measured at 6-foot-5, 285 pounds with 34-inch arms at the Combine. Considered by many to be a likely first-round pick in next month’s NFL Draft, White chose to participate just three of the seven measurable drills at the Combine – the bench press, the vertical jump and the broad jump. As expected, his bench press result was especially impressive, as he did 30 reps of 225 pounds, which was tied for second among 25 defensive ends/edge rushers that participated in the drill at the Combine. He also displayed great athleticism with a 34-inch vertical jump, which was tied for 11th among the 31 DEs/edge rushers that participated.

Thomas, a linebacker, officially measured at 6-foot-3, 216 pounds with 31.5-inch arms. He participated in all seven measurable drills – the 40-yard dash (including 10-yard split), three-cone drill, 20-yard shuttle run, bench press, vertical jump and broad jump – and ranked among the top half of the Combine’s participating linebackers in the 40-yard dash (4.52 seconds – 6th of 16), 10-yard split (1.55 seconds – t-5th/16), 20-yard shuttle (4.34 seconds – 2nd/6) and broad jump (10 feet, 4 inches – t-6th/15).

Next up for White and Thomas is Georgia Tech’s annual Pro Day, which is set for March 16. In addition to White and Thomas, Tech wide receiver Malachi Carter, linebacker Ayinde Eley, wide receiver/tight end E.J Jenkins, running back Hassan Hall and offensive lineman William Lay III will participate in the Yellow Jackets’ Pro Day, which is expected to draw personnel from most, if not all, of the NFL’s 32 franchises.
