COLUMBUS, Ohio – Georgia Tech junior swimmer Iris Wang got off to a record-setting start on Thursday, as she set a new school record in the 50 free at the 2018 NCAA Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships held at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion in Columbus, Ohio.
In the 50 free prelims on Thursday morning, Wang broke her own school record with a time of 22.54, good enough to place her in a tie for 37th overall. Her previous school record was 22.69 which she originally set at the 2017 ACC Championships and matched this season at the 2017 Georgia Tech Invitational.
The junior will continue her week with the 200 free on Friday, March 16, and the 100 free on Saturday, March 17.
The prelims on Friday and Saturday will start at 10 a.m. with the finals set for a 6 p.m. start time both nights.
