Each January, ESPN.com conducts the poll in which fans can vote for the up-and-coming athlete who will become the “next” big superstar. The winner will appear on the cover of the Jan. 31 issue of ESPN the Magazine.
Johnson is one of five nominees this year, along with Dwight Howard of the Orlando Magic, New York Mets shortstop Jose Reyes, Evgeni Malkin of the Pittsburgh Penguins, and NASCAR driver Juan Pablo Montoya.
