Lindsey Laband and Ulrike Stegemann were named to the Atlantic Coast Conference All-Academic Volleyball Team, announced Friday by ACC Commissioner John Swofford.
The All-ACC Academic team recognizes student-athletes who have earned a 3.0 grade point average for the fall semester and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher during their academic career while making a significant contribution in their sport.
Laband, a senior from Monument, Colo.., was the Jackets’ starting setter the past two seasons and helped the Yellow Jackets to a 16-15 record this year. A two-time AVCA Honorable Mention All-American, Laband was one of 10 athletes from the ACC named to the list who also earned all-Conference honors. Laband is a management major who posted a 3.50 GPA last semester and carries a 3.06 overall GPA at Georgia Tech.
Stegemann, a sophomore from Schwerin, Germany, was the starting rightside hitter for the Yellow Jackets this season. A 2005 CoSIDA Academic All-District selection, Stegemann also earned Second Team All-ACC honors this season. Stegemann recorded a 3.33 GPA in management during the fall semester and has a cumulative GPA of 3.67.
Also making a 3.0 or better last semester on the women’s volleyball team this semester were Nikki Kaminskas, Allie Niekamp, Katie Mohs, Jennifer Randall, Stephanie Robbins, and Abby Showers.
