FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – – Junior Alphonso Jordan and Senior Jerome Miller each posted NCAA provisional qualifying jumps to lead Georgia Tech track & field on the final day of competition at the Razorback Invitational Saturday in Fayetteville, Ark.
Jordan, who already provisionally qualified in the triple earlier this season, posted a season-best mark of 51 feet, 10 ½ inches for a third-place finish as seven competitors landed a provisional distance.
A day after breaking the Tech indoor record in the high jump, Miller added a provisional qualifying distance of 50-06.25 in the triple for a seventh-place finish.
Earlier in the day, sophomore Antonio McKay Jr. topped his personal-best in the 400 meter dash with a third-place finish in 47.66. McKay was just .25 seconds behind winner Quentin Iglehart-Summers of Baylor’s 47.41 race.
Also posting strong results for the men was junior Billy Mateker, who finished second in the open 800 meter race with a time of 1:53.39. Senior Dave Ford added a fourth-place finish to his day in the 60 meter hurdles, crossing the line in 8.13.
On the women’s side, junior Lindsey Pickens finished third in the 3000 meter open run, clocking a time of 10:36.59. Sophomore Amanda Montgomery finished sixth in the women’s open 800 meter race with a 2:21.88, while senior Ashley Keck came in seventh in the open mile run with a 5:13.38.
Both teams will take a week off before heading to the Virginia Tech Elite Invitational, Feb. 6-7, in Blacksburg, Va.
