THE FLATS – The Georgia Tech track and field team capped off its weekend at home with the second day of competition of the Georgia Tech Invite.
On Saturday, the program recognized the 17 members of its senior class prior to the first track event of the day.
Tech also held a recognition to thank its Assistant Men’s Track and Field and Pole Vault Coach Victor Kirillov ahead of his retirement.
The Jackets saw success in many of the field events today. In the women’s high jump, Camille Trotman and Shanty Papakosta placed second and third both with a mark of 1.70 meters (5-7). Omar Arnaout took home third in the men’s high jump with a mark of 2.01 meters (6-7).
John Watkins earned a second-place mark of 15.24 meters (50-0) in the men’s triple jump. Jamir Gibson finished in the top three of the men’s discus, throwing a third-place mark of 55.41 meters (181-9).
Tech started off the track events with the 400m hurdles. Lydia Troupe placed fourth for the women (1:00.45) and Jackson Sexton finished eighth (53.70) in the men’s event. In the men’s 400m, Jamison Miller ran a seventh-place time of 47.75.
Three Jackets finished in the top 15 of the men’s 800m. Harrison Fultz came in 11th (1:52.09), Joshua Williams finished 12th (1:52.10) and Parker Buchheit came in 13th place (1:52.47).
The men’s 4x400m relay team comprised of Miller, Bradley Favors, Sexton and Buchheit took home third place with a season-best time of 3:12.17.
