On June 23, 1972, Congress passed the landmark legislation of Title IX, forever changing the scope of women’s sports in the United States. As the 50th anniversary comes in 2022, Georgia Tech athletics will celebrate its women’s sports including establishment and successes all year long.
Georgia Tech athletics takes pride in the advancement of women’s sports on The Flats since Title IX’s inception and currently supports eight varsity sports: basketball, cross country, softball, swimming and diving, tennis, track and field (indoor and outdoor) and volleyball.
Georgia Tech’s women’s teams have won national and league championships, produced numerous all-conference, All-American and Olympic performers.
