Aug. 10, 2006

ATLANTA – Thirty-four swimming & diving athletes were named to the Atlantic Coast Conference Honor Roll announced by the league office on Wednesday. All-ACC senior swimmer Sam Morgan and senior swimmer Ashley Kracke, a NCAA provisional qualifier, led the way for the Yellow Jackets.

The ACC Academic Honor Roll, now in its 50th year, is comprised of all ACC student-athletes who participated in a varsity-level sport and registered a grade point average of 3.0 or better for the full academic year.

Morgan, the first Tech athlete to compete in four consecutive NCAA Championships, garnered All-ACC honors for the second straight season in the mile at the ACC Championships with a time of 15:06.69.

Kracke, the women’s team captain, finaled in the 100 and 200 backstroke events for the fourth consecutive season for the Jackets at the ACC Championships, tallying a pair of seventh-place finishes in the 100 back (57.53) and 200 back (2:01.37). She clocked a NCAA ‘B’ standard in the 200 back at the ACC meet.

Senior diver Laurissa Prystaj was named to the Honor Roll for the fourth consecutive year. This year Prystaj broke her own school records on the one- and three-meter springboards with scores of 305.95 and 351.60, respectively, to qualify for her fourth NCAA Zone B Diving Championships.
