Tech's Prince and Kelly Earn ACC Weekly Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Georgia Tech’s Bryan Prince and Steve Kelly earn this week’s Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week honors, respectively.

Prince, a senior catcher, earns ACC Player of the Week honors after leading Georgia Tech to a 5-1 record in three games with No. 25 Rutgers and two games against Oakland. For the week, the Ft. Oglethorpe, Ga., native notched 11 hits, 10 RBI and a.524 batting average. He finished the week with 21 at bats as well as contributing nine runs, three doubles and three home runs. Prince had at least one hit in all five contests in which he played, and for the season he is batting .408 with a team-high four home runs and 22 RBI in 12 games.

Pitcher of the Week honors are claimed by Georgia Tech right-hander Steve Kelly. The junior, who hails from Fairfield, Ohio, threw a 10-inning complete game, allowing no earned runs, no walks and just eight hits as the Yellow Jackets downed No. 25 Rutgers, 2-1. Kelly captured the win, while needing just 112 pitches and striking out a season-high nine batters.
