Tech's Pernet, Morris Advance in Women's Regional Tennis Tourney

MOBILE, Ala. (Nov. 5) – Georgia Tech freshmen Charlotte Pernet and Mysti Morris advanced in their respective divisions of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s Regional Tournament Friday at the Mobile Tennis Center.

Pernet won a pair of matches to advance to the round of 16 in the “B” singles division, and Morris won her opener in the “A” singles division.

Pernet topped Alabama Birmingham’s Ester Obergfoel, 6-2, 6-0, in the first round, then beat Tracey Gobey of South Alabama, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 to reach the round of 16.

Morris defeated Tamara Kaffalavich of Jacksonville, 6-0, 6-1.

Tech freshmen Jamie Wong and senior Sabrina Pardo both dropped their opening round matches. Wong fell 1-6, 0-6, to Iva Puflerova of South Alabama, and Pardo fell, 3-6, 6-7 (0) to Genevieve Houle of South Florida.

The ITA Southern Regional Tournament continues Satruday.
