ATLANTA – Yellow Jacket shortstop Derek Dietrich has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III first team, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Thursday morning.

Dietrich’s inclusion on the Academic All-District team marks the sixth-straight year a Georgia Tech baseball player has received first-team honors, and he becomes the first Yellow Jackets sophomore since Steven Blackwood (2004) to be eligible for Academic All-America accolades.

The Parma, Ohio native is batting .353 with nine home runs and 47 RBI in his second season on the Flats while maintaining a 3.41 cumulative GPA as a management major at Georgia Tech.

Dietrich was one of 19 members of the 2009 Georgia Tech baseball team to be named to the Dean’s List following the spring semester.
