SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Senior Brandy Depland qualified for the finals of the women’s triple jump (42-6.25) and junior Ashlee Kidd advanced to the finals of the women’s 400-meter dash (51.86) to lead the Georgia Tech men’s and women’s track and field teams at the NCAA Outdoor Championships on Friday night.
Depland, a native of Katy, Texas, finished ninth in the preliminaries of the triple jump and will try and earn All-America honors for the third consecutive season. Depland will compete in the finals on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET.
Kidd, a native of St. Petersburg, Fla., finished fifth in the 400m dash at last year’s outdoor national championships and is trying to become just the third female athlete to capture a national title after posting a sixth-place finish in the prelims. She will run in the finals at 4:10 p.m. ET.
Sophomore Jerome Miller tallied a 10th-place finish in the men’s high jump with a mark of 7 feet, ¼ inch, to lead the men’s team.
