SACRAMENTO, Calif. – On her second attempt at 6’4.75″, sophomore Chaunte Howard cleared the bar to punch her ticket to the Athens Olympics with a runner-up finish in the women’s high jump at the U.S. Olympic Trials on Monday night. Tisha Waller captured the event with a mark of 6’6″ and Amy Acuff finished third, clearing the bar at 6’4.75″ on her third attempt.
David Krummenacker, a 1998 Tech graduate, finished fourth in the men’s 800 meters with a time of 1:45.67. Krummenacker could try and make the Olympic Games in the 1500 meters, which will take place on Thursday, July 15, with quarterfinal action starting at 11 p.m. ET.
Senior Brendon Mahoney will compete in the men’s 1500 meters at the U.S. Olympic Trials on Thursday night for the Yellow Jackets. Junior Montrell Person will run in the quarterfinals of the 110-meter hurdles at the Trials on Saturday, July 17, scheduled for 5:30 p.m. ET.

Freshman Ashlee Kidd will represent the U.S. team in the women’s 400 meters at the IAAF World Junior Championships in Grosseto, Italy, on Tuesday, July 13. Kidd is scheduled to run in the preliminaries at 2:38 p.m. ET. For more information on the championship event, go to IAAF World Jr. Results.
