Oct. 19, 2002

NASHVILLE – The Georgia Tech women’s tennis team, led by the team of Jaime Wong and Mysti Morris wrapped up doubles play at the June Stewart Invitational in Nashville, Tenn., as poor weather forced the postponement of singles action on Saturday.

The team of Morris and Wong finished third in the doubles flight one as they opened with an 8-5 victory over Purdue’s team of Wright and Haynor. The duo then fell to Vanderbilt’s Riske and Tsoubanos by an 8-5 count. Wong and Morris then defeated Tennessee’s Encina and Maharaj by an 8-6 score in the third-place match.

In the doubles flight three, the Yellow Jackets’ team of Sekita Grant and Annelies Schenk defeated Clemson’s Lesaldo and Stiglic in the first round by an 8-3 score, but then dropped the next two matches to Purdue’s Zuccarini and Walgenbach (8-6) and Marshall’s Sukner and Hock (9-8 (4)).

The June Stewart Invit., will conclude on Sunday with the final round of singles play. Full tournament results are available at www.vucommodores.com.
