WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (Jan. 22) – Georgia Tech’s Fabio Campos and Romain Coirault both won their opening round singles matches Saturday before falling in the second round of the Atlantic Coast Conference Indoor Men’s Tennis Championships hosted by Wake Forest.

Campos, a freshman, downed Clemson’s Lee Porter, 6-3, 6-2, before falling to third-seeded Andres Pedroso of Duke, 6-2, 6-2, in the second round.

Coirault, a junior, topped NC State’s Brian Cowman, 6-2,6-2, before falling to fifth-seeded Marko Cerenko of Duke, 6-2, 6-4, in round two.

Campos and Coirault were the only two Tech players to win their opening round matches in singles.

In doubles, Tech had three teams win their opening-round matches before falling in the second round.

The tandems of Sergio Aguirre and Roger Anderson, Coirault and Campos, and Tim Bibby and Jason Jeong all posted first round victories.

Singles and doubles play continues Sunday in both the open and consolation divisions.
