THE FLATS – Georgia Tech women’s basketball will head to Purdue for the 2021 Big Ten/ACC Challenge, facing the Boilermakers on Wednesday, Dec. 1. The ACC, in conjunction with the Big Ten Conference, announced the full lineup of matchups for the 14th annual Challenge on Tuesday.
A total of 14 challenge games will be played over a two-day period, Dec. 1-2. Game times, as well as television and streaming video coverage, will be announced at a later date. All Big Ten home games will appear on either Big Ten Network, Big Ten Network+ or one of the ESPN networks, while all ACC home games will be shown on either the ACC Network, ACC Network Extra or one of the ESPN networks. The ACC owns a 9-1-3 all-time advantage and 94-70 overall win-loss record in the Challenge.
Tech is 8-5 all-time in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge including a 6-1 record at home. In the 2019 Challenge, the Yellow Jackets upended Wisconsin in McCamish Pavilion, 60-41. This will be the third meeting between Tech and Purdue in Challenge history with the series tied, 1-1. Georgia Tech and Purdue last met in 2017 with the Jackets taking a 68-55 decision over the Boilermakers in McCamish Pavilion. Additionally, Tech has recorded wins over Illinois (2013), Nebraska (2011), Northwestern (2010), Penn State (2009), Michigan State (2008) and Iowa (2007) in the Challenge.
Georgia Tech is coming off a successful 2020-21 season, finishing with a 17-9 overall record and the program’s second-ever NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 appearance. The Yellow Jackets, which finished third in the ACC with a 12-6 league record, return 11 letterwinners from last season’s squad. Additionally, Tech welcomes three newcomers to the roster for the 2021-22 season.
