THE FLATS – Georgia Tech track and field will split competition on its last weekend of the regular season at the Penn Relays and LSU Invite. Tech will compete at the Penn Relays from Thursday, April 27 to Saturday, April 29 in Philadelphia, Pa. A small group of Jackets will head to Baton Rouge, La. on Saturday for the LSU Invite.
At the Penn Relays, Tech will have a variety of athletes competing. Several standouts from this season will be in attendance including Zach Jaeger, Jamir Gibson, James Cragin, Helena Lindsay, Liz Galarza and Shanty Papakosta.
The group heading to LSU will include a small group of men’s track and field athletes.
Last weekend, the program hosted the Georgia Tech Invite. During the two days of competition, multiple Jackets recorded ACC qualifying standards in their respective events. On Friday, Tech shined in the men’s 1500m by claiming five of the top 10 spots. The men’s 5000m also featured three Jackets who finished in the top 10.
Tech earned top five finishes in the high jump, men’s triple jump, men’s discus and women’s 400m hurdles. The men’s 4x400m relay team also ran an impressive season-best time to place third.
In the most recent individual rankings, according to TFRRS, five Jackets ranked in the top 50 of the NCAA in their respective events. In addition, 10 Jackets currently rank in the top 50 on the NCAA East performance list. Tech also has a total of 13 marks that rank in the top in the ACC.
